“The Boisset Annual Ambassador Retreat brings together people from all over the country for a stimulating, memorable and engaging weekend.”
Our experience at this year’s JCB Ambassador Retreat – Pour Your Passion! – included sampling some of the 1,400 vintages and bottlings of the 25 wineries included in the JCB Collection. Our grand round tasting focused on these wines from California.
The following ratings will be updated with links to CellarTracker.com in the coming days. To order these wines please visit Stonewood Wine marketplace at JCB here.
Buena Vista Winery
Fine sparkling offering with crisp firmness and structure delightful in flute or coupe.
Honeysuckle flowers and lemon zest on the nose with the deep butterscotch lingering finish.
Fresh apricots on the nose give way to deep jasmine and melon fruit on the palate. Unfiltered wine with good trace of minerality.
14 JCs Pick Napa Valley Zinfandel – SW90
Dark chocolate on the nose with dark spice and traces of gravel on the palate. Medium tannins from the traces of blended Petite Syrah. Plays up like most Merlot offers for food pairing.
Deep dark fruits and dates on the nose with full bodied easy finish from 15% Petit Verdot. Bottled unfiltered.
Wattle Creek Winery
15 Viognier Alexander Valley – SW91
A spring runoff of orange blossoms with a soft fresh and crisp finish. Very pleasant varietal expression and easy drinker. Value wine at $24/btl retail.
14 Sauvignon Blanc – SW89
Lemon grass and spring flowers with caramel and a trace of butter on a moderate finish. Alexander Valley and Bennett Valley sourced.
13 Merlot Alexander Valley – SW88

14 Estate Pinot Noir – SW88

14 Forgotten Vines Zinfandel – SW89
Deep currant and plums, dark fruits with a medium to bright finish with light tannins. Very mature vines 100-130 year old.
No 24 Sparkling Wine – SW91
A fantastic sparkling offer 70% Pinot Noir 30% Chardonnay with fine bubbles and even color. We enjoyed this all day over a holiday brunch and continued into dinner. 24 symbolizes a shared dream among a group, or in our case good enough to drink 7/24.
14 Passion – SW93
Bordeaux left bank Blend with smooth texture and leather notes and hints of tobacco. A Parker favorite at 96 points, we are also enthusiastic about this wine as well. When we tasted this wine was served al fresco, should be slightly chilled and decanted before serving for a full expression of this vintage.
